From pond to pouch
Makhana begins as the seed of the prickly water lily, grown in the still ponds of Mithila, Bihar โ the region that produces most of the world's fox nuts. At dawn, farmers wade waist-deep to gather the seed pods by hand, exactly as their families have for generations.
Mr Foxy buys that raw harvest, then keeps the process deliberately simple โ clean, dry, pop, sort, pack. No flavour house, no coating line, no shortcuts. One ingredient, treated with care.
Hand-harvested
Seed pods are collected from lotus ponds at sunrise, when the water is calm.
Sun-dried & cleaned
Seeds are dried, graded and washed so only sound kernels move forward.
Popped, never fried
Traditional dry-heat popping gives the light crunch โ no oil bath involved.
Sorted & sealed
Big, round, unbroken pops are hand-sorted into resealable pouches.
